Difficult to load 5 adult bikes – Great rack, sturdy, very easy to mount on our Lincoln Navigator, and it folds down to about a 45 degree angle to access the lift gate. The huge problem with this bike rack though is that my husband and our 4 teenagers all have mountain bikes (mine is more of a road bike). It took my husband probably 20 minutes to try to load the bikes on the rack and it was NOT easy. He had them staggered, so one bike faced in one direction and the next bike was in the opposite direction. He still had to jam the pedals and handlebars through the tire spokes to get all the bikes on. Once those bikes were on, there was no way we were going to want to have to take them off and put them back on more than once during the current road trip that we’re on.

Excellent inexpensive rack – I needed a rack that held 5 bikes for a trip. We don’t normally take this many bikes and use a tray rack so I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. This rack checked all of the boxes. Easy to assemble. Easy to install. Easy to load. I carried one full size hybrid, two 24” mountain bikes, and two 20” kids bikes for about 200 miles of turnpike. Everything was secure and stable. I love the angle option so I didn’t have to uninstall the rack to access the trunk. I love that the pins are all corded to the rack so they can’t be lost. All in all this was a perfect buy for our needs.

Now over 7,000 miles with 5 bikes – Drove out west for 3 weeks in 2020 with 2 adult bikes and 3 kid bikes and it worked great. Now put on another 4,300 miles in Aug 2022 with 3 adult bikes and two 24” bikes and still worked like a charm. All those bumps and potholes…There is a bike placement method that needs to be perfected, and recommend taking a picture of the set-up when you get everything on for the next time.

Wobbly – bikes move around a LOT – Overall, I’m happy with the rack, but I can’t say I would feel too comfortable driving with the bikes on it for long distances. When you hit bumps, you can see the bikes in your rear view, bouncing around like an adult film star trying to fund her college education. I am considering using a ratchet to the left and right side of my roof to the rack (or bikes) to keep the bikes from moving around too much. Over time, I can’t imagine this rack will take as much abuse as the aforementioned film stars.

Great, one small criticism – Sturdy and easy to install. It’s on the heavier side but I like that. Bikes don’t move even on bumpy side streets. One little criticism: Where the upright boom swivels and clicks into the fixed 90 degree tubing, there’s an 1/8th of an inch gap when it’s locked in that makes it feel a little loose. It comes with a little rubber/plaster bumper that’s supposed to make it tighter but it’s too small. It still has room to shifts it’s very secure and has zero effect on the security of the bikes, it just feels loose. No big deal. Great bike rack besides that.

Full review: Practical Experience and advise – Just installed a Curt custom trailer hitch on a 2016 Kia Sorento. We had a trip planned to Moab UT. That is a Mtn bikers mecca and with 3 new mtbs for our kids we needed a way to bring 5 bikes to make the most of some great trails in the State Parks. So we were depending on this to have some Spring Break fun on 2 wheels.
