Why pay more? – I was researching different bike racks for my 2012 RAV4 and was considering a $300 model from REI. At $50, this one seemed cheap – suspiciously cheap. I ended giving this one a shot and I’m very pleased with my purchase. Installation took just a few minutes and it was good to go. Note for this model of RAV4, the straps were just barely not long enough to loop around under the bumper. I worked around this by attaching a carbiner clip through the hole I was attempting to reach with the strap, and attached the strap to the clip.

Works great on a custom hitch mounted tire rack – I have a custom hitch mounted swing-away tire rack that makes it difficult for me to use most spare tire mounted bike racks, including those by the big-name brands like Yakima and Thule. I needed something that would add minimal weight to my setup, yet was strong enough to not add to any additional sway for the spare tire. So far, I’ve used this three times already- twice with my trail bike on the rack to and from local parks, and a third time with nothing loaded but traveling 80 mph on the highway. The setup was extremely rigid on all these trips and to my pleasant surprise, actually helped make the spare tire wobble/vibrate less (most likely due to the provided straps, which tie down the rack to the metal bumper)! It also takes no more than 5 min. to take down and/or setup the rack. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase! Highly recommend.

Great if it fits – I bought this for my 2002 Honda CR-V and, unfortunately, it doesn’t fit. It’s a great mount of it fits. My issue was the rear windshield wiper location. The mount arm was hitting the wiper blade and caused me to have to turn it to the side a little. That made it seem like the mount was going to twist and fall off. It’s a great, fairly sturdy mount, just not for my vehicle.

Decent enough rack. Could be a bit more secure. – The rack held up well for a 4 day road trip. The straps it comes with to attach to the bottom of the vehicle are a bit weak for my liking. Added my own and strap. Bikes were not damaged during transport. Good value for the money.

Great for 1,000 mile trip! – We got this bike rack to use on our 2008 Toyota RAV4, to take our bikes to Florida on an 800 mile train trip with a 5 hour drive continuing afterward. I read a lot of reviews before I decided on the “premium” version for a few dollars more—primarily because I wanted the convenience of the rubber straps that are easier to strap the bike down (and remove) rather than the nylon straps that you must thread through the plastic clips that come with the lower-priced rack.

Works as expected, and it’s a great value – This was easy to install and it works as expected. I’m happy. Improvements could be the product providing a way to lock itself to the vehicle, as well as strapping the rack to the vehicle at the top of the rack, both for piece of mind. I purchased a separate strap to wrap around the top of the rack and the spare tire, since it only attaches at the top by gravity and friction with the rubber tire. It straps to the bumper at the bottom. Also when I’m riding my bike, I use the bike lock to lock the rack to the tire which has locking lug nuts. All good.

Great Bike Rack – I was a little skeptical at first to use this rack on my 2004 toyota rav 4, but I’ve used the rack about 5 times already and it’s actually pretty great. Easy to install and assemble. It does what it is supposed to!

Sturdy. Folds down flat. Very easy to install and de-install. Great customer service. – Very sturdy. Folds up flatly for storage. Very easy to install and de-install. I bought this for my Honda CRV. It is an older model with the spare tire on the back door. The installation instructions are geared towards Jeep Wrangler. Unlike the Wrangler (or Toyota FJ), the underside of the CRV bumper is not metal. It cannot be used to anchor the rack. I emailed customer service for advice. They were very quick to respond and quite friendly. They suggested anchoring the rack to the underside of the door or the underside of the tire frame. In addition to providing proper stability, it allows the door to be opened. I am very impressed with the rack and the quality of customer service.
