Some Reviews are Inaccurate!!! – spectacular whistle. i know it’s widely popular in my pool of lifeguard coworkers. it’s really loud when you need it to be, and the rubber barrier is extremely helpful especially to anyone who chews on their whistles. any reviewer saying the whistle is “defective” is confused. there is a specific technic when blowing the whistle to actually make it whistle properly. you have to stick your tongue in the open area of the whistle and quickly remove it as you blow, which will create a loud whistle. it’s all about the technique, there is no ball in the whistle, and that’s because it isn’t necessary.

Powerhouse packs a punch. – Hands down one of the most iconic whistles on the market. The Fox 40 is remarkably loud and extremely distinct. For someone purchasing this item you can not go wrong. I saw a few reviews saying the Fox 40 they received did not sound right, there is a technique to get that distinct sound. I suggest either a short but powerful blast or the method I use, pretend you are eating sunflower seeds and you want to spit one out. Use your tongue to block the whistle opening when blowing quickly removing your tongue allow in the air to go through the whistle forcefully then quickly put your tongue back in place to stop the airflow for that sharp distinct Fox 40 sound. This will create that distinct and recognizable sound that is so familiar to most water parks, pools, or sporting events. Hope that helps.

Loud reliable whistle – First I didn’t blow hard enough and thought this was broken. Then I have a good blow and bam this was real loud. I like the lanyard it came with. The one I bought was white and it got dirty over a month and now has stains all over the edges and body of it so it doesn’t look nice anymore but it works and works well.

Perfect whistle – I was a first year referee this year. I asked all the other refs what to get and this product was the most recommended. In volleyball you keep your whistle in your mouth the entire time you are working. I really like the rubber where it sits on my teeth. I have sensitive teeth and it was very comfortable. I have a cheaper whistle that I was given without the rubber and I don’t even use it anymore. This whistle also has a strong and clear sound so it was the perfect tool for the job. If I ever need another one this will be the one I buy again.
