Exceptional Thickness – This top loading duffle bag is tough and plenty big so you can just quickly load your stuff in it for a trip and head out. I bought this bag because I’m tired of playing packing tetris for a casual weekend trip, and it functions well in that regard (i.e. shove stuff in bag) . There’s no need to worry about ripping a seam or hurting it while packing since the thick canvas fabric and heavy duty stitching look like they can take a lot a abuse. In regards to appearance, the bag is relatively plain looking compared to designer bags et cetera. However, if you look carefully at this shoulder bag, you can see the textile engineering that went in to it. For example the load paths are reinforced with extra stiching, and the metal clasp looks over sized. Those attributes are what makes this top loading (or shoulder) bag beautiful, extremely rugged, and I bet it will last a pretty damn long time.

NOT really 40″ x 25″ – Great fabric, nice and sturdy. I was aggravated to discover that the bottom of this bag is actually a 12 x 12 square. The top appears to measure 25″ across if you lay it flat, but that would not work for what I wanted to use it for. I needed to slide over a bedroll that was actually 20″ diameter, so the 12 x 12 square bottom was no good. If I knew I would use it for other things for sure, I would have considered keeping it. I do think the seller should be more up-front with the measurements.

Perfect for the gym with a quick over-the-shoulder carrying method – This is what I have always wanted to carry my garments and smaller bags within. Better than my old military duffel bag which had some goofy backpack strap pair I never used. I only used one and the other always dangled needlessly. This bag was perfectly designed and envisioned for a quick carry for short distance. I wanted the black one or the brown one but the green was the only available at the time of my purchase.

Visually but not materially similar to my US Army issued duffel bag – I served in the U.S. Army and was issued a U.S. Army duffel bags in basic training and it served me well for three years in service and I still use it as a storage bag 25 years later. My original U.S. Army duffel still looks brand new to this day. This bag, while it looks like a U.S. Army bag, is made out of soft canvas and has a cheap clip/latch on the top. I bought this bag to store my camping and emergency supplies and do not expect it to have the same longevity as my U.S. Army duffel, which was made out of thick polyester material and had a much better prong/latch on it. I only paid $28 for this bag and don’t expect to drag this bag around like I did my Army duffel and I expect to last at least a decade storing my camping/emergency gear.

Not even in use yet the clasp failed – I love the size and the shape. But the retention strap clasp was a joke. It failed as I was filling the bag. I ended up adding a clip style clasp to the strap. I will keep it but it isn’t as heavy duty as I had hoped.
